News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.

A Significant Reunion for Fans

The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their cameos will take the form of a future-set scene, considering the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.

This signifies the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several prominent actors in important characters:

• Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the production schedule:

1. Principal photography commenced in the summer of 2025.
2. Filming concluded in November of the same year.
3. The eagerly awaited film is scheduled for November 2026 theatrical debut.
