Barcelona Ready for First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session on the home pitch on 7 November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization by UEFA to host the next European match versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
